Carolyne Milne
![]() After rearing a family of three children, attending several
educational courses, travelling overseas for two years, breaking
in my beloved horse Hero and marrying the man of my dreams, it
was time to let my creative personality have its day. On moving
to Tasmania from NSW 14th May 1999, and after visiting Huon FM,
I decided it was time to take the plunge and become involved in
community radio.
My first program induction was country music on Sunday afternoons
and Saturday night rock from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's from
August 1999 to December of that year.
I filled in on the Brekky show for two days a week for one
month in 1999.
I left for two years and returned in July 2001 with "All Kinds
of Country", as the name suggests on Sunday afternoons and then
moved onto other programs as well.
Now that I am a grandmother of ten and also graduated to Station
Manager, I am not quite bald but am heading in that direction
- but what a great way to go.

David Needham
![]() David, another Pom, happily admits to living in a time warp
of the English 1960's - the best time for popular music he says.
After living for many years in Australia he and his lovely wife
Jude retired to the old country in 1999where David's interest
in local radio was inspired by the great Judi Spiers of BBC Radio
Devon. He's now a firm believer that locally run stations can
help to build a real sense of community.
His musical interests include country, jazz, classical and indigenous music from all over the world. On his Friday Arvo show, though, he admits its "mostly 60's"! |

![]() A bit about myself I grew up the U.K and was lucky
enough to be a teen ager when the music of the 6o’s
was happening. I was a Rocker with a motorbike during the time
of Mods & Rockers In England. Migrating to Australia with
my family in the late sixties I later moved permantly to the Huon
in 1985 where I met my future wife to be, Pam.
Then after seeing a recruiting sign) I joined
7Rgy (as Huon fm was known then) I started as a nervous
announcer, and slowly built a popular show featuring the best
music and comedy from the sixties & 70’s called Retro Rock
gaining an Affectionate nickname as the “Guru of Retro’
I went on to cover just about all aspects of working
in a community radio station. I also built up a show for motorcycle
and car lovers called “Kickstart” Traversing the state and
interviewing many well known racing identies. I have been involved
with HuonFm for around 16yrs although not constantly
taking a couple of 12month breaks during this time.
I just love being a broadcaster on community
radio its such a rewarding feeling broadcasting to my local community,
to hopefully make their day a bit happier with the added bonus
of being able to send my programs out to the world across the
internet and also to be part of the happy team of fellow broadcasters
and volunteers at the station.
I do two shows presently one being ‘Rock
'n Comedy’ where I play & present mainly rock from the 60’s&
70’s,including, comedy greats from that era plus a bit of home
grown comedy.
The other show is one of our morning ‘Grapevine
show’s on Fridays featuring live & recorded interviews, plus
music and community Information Comments & local news

Mel Lee
![]() Born in the Hunter Valley in the 1950's initially started work
at the Newcastle Steelworks, studying Metallurgy at Newcastle
Uni.After a couple of bad years, including the Vietnam War, I
quit Uni and started teacher training. Taught Science, Maths,
Cooking and Computers for the next 27 years in both state (NSW)
and Catholic High Schools. Was promoted to Cordinator in Information
Technology in 2000 and spent 3 years in this high pressure (and
high paid!) job. Left for Tassie in 2003 and had no job for nearly
2 years. Discovered Huon FM during this time and was interested
in the technical side of Radio and liked playing music from the
70s and 80's. Did a few years of presenting at Huon FM and now
finally have had to hang up the mike. My current job (at a radio
station in Hobart) is needing more of my time, and now im happy
to drop in when I can and give a hand (if needed). My current
interest is in training (Cert III Radio) at both HuonFM and RPH
(Hobart), and maybe further afield. In many ways, I owe a lot
to Huon FM. Maybe, you will find that Huon FM can help you too!

Georgie Fitzgerald
![]() My name is Georgie FitzGerald, I was born in Melbourne on the
10th of July 1969.
I had a fun and bizare childhood. I am the eldest of 5 children
and thus know how to converse with many people on a wide variety
of subjects.
I completed yeat 12 in 1987, and did a sociollogy degree at
La Trobe University in Melbourne. From there I began working with
intelectually disabled adults teaching art, music, dance and drama.
In my mid 20's I decided to travel around Australia and begun
a production company called One Heart Productions. I collected
a data base of talented people from around the country and worked
solidly for a few years "puttin on" circus like performances around
the mainland festival circuit.
I stopped travelling to have my son Jaymyne who is now 12.
After Jaymyne was born I studied massage, Reiki, and natural therapies
by correspondance. When I completed my studies I set up a natural
therapies clinic in Grafton NSW. I practiced there for a year,
and then sold my business when my father died suddenly in 1998.
My fathers death had quite a profound effect on me and I decided
to move to Tasmania with my son.
I have lived in Tassie since 1998 and I love it. I met Kevin
(who is a jazz/funk drummer and builder) in 1999 and we were married
in 2002. We worked and lived on a flower farm in Grove for a few
years and saved up to buy our first home.
We now have our own small carpentry/building business.
We have had two more boys and life is going along pretty well.
We are living at Franklin in the Huon Valley
Since my little ones were born I have discovered that I have
a real passion and enthusiasm for RADIO and have been a regular
announcer at 95.3 Huon FM for the past 3 years.
Over the past 3 years I have explored a diverse range of shows
and have appealed to a wide variety of audiences.
I have experienced the joys of doing an afternoon music show,
a Saturday night "mixed party hits" show, an Australian music
show, and am currently presenting a morning talk back and current
affairs show.
I have had experience conducting interviews . I have
also done some production work as well as ads and promos for the
station.
Due to the nature of Huon Fm I have had to research, choose
music and organise all of my shows. Thus I have a good knowledge
of music and can produce and present stunningly superior show.
I do enjoy being creative and dynamic and I am able to achieve
that working at Huon FM. I am intelligent, witty, mature and have
a wonderful phone manner. I really enjoy working as part of a
team. I am also capable of initiating ideas and motivating people
and always deliver a high standard of performance.
I am a happy person who shines brightly. I love interacting
with people from all walks of life, and can converse with anyone
on most subjects (and even if i'm not sure i am brilliant at "winging
it"!)
I am currently completing Certificate III in Broadcasting (Radio).
I am doing this training through Huon FM.
Huon FM plays a big part in my life and I am really happy to
be involved with such an AWESOME radio station.

Willi Ladru
I am Willie
Ladru, I live in the Huon Valley and love it. I present
the Feeling Good program on 95.3 Huon FM on Sunday Mornings and
love to share the Gospel with the people in the Valley and hope
to be able to help people to find Peace of mind and to be happy(which
is very hard to have in the times we are living in at the present).
I love the fellowship i have with my colleagues at the Radio Station
and look forward to the time that the people in our community
do see the progress that is made at the radio station over the
last year, and are more able, and willing to support their own
radio station.
We as a
small group of volunteers in our community do need the support
from the various groups of people, such as the Council, Police,
Fire Brigade, Business and others in the community. To live
in a healthy environment and to be successful with a good neighbour
policy to care for others.
